If kitchen design was a race car, it would be Formula 1 … and that would make the Sub-Zero and Wolf Kitchen Design Contest ‘Designers’ Choice Award‘ the Monaco Grand Prix. I can think of no greater honor than receiving recognition from your peers for excellence, so in my mind, that makes this the most anticipated kitchen design award that you will find.
The Designers’ Choice Award was first introduced during the 2006-2007 Kitchen Design Contest, with Phyllis Taylor taking home the inaugural distinction. Current contest judge EJ Meade was awarded Designers’ Choice in the 2008-2009 contest, and Caroline Tyler DeCesare won the award in 2010-2012. This will be the fourth time that the Sub-Zero and Wolf Kitchen Design Contest has opened up the voting to other design professionals, giving them a say in who will be recognized for excellence by allowing them to vote for who is worthy of receiving the Designers’ Choice Award.
The kitchens that are up for consideration have all been recognized for their excellence by winning one of the 53 Regional Design Awards that were carefully reviewed and hand-selected blindly by a panel of seven esteemed judges, from over 1,700 designs submitted from 16 countries around the world. For the purposes of selecting the Designers’ Choice Award, these regional winning designs will be put into an online gallery where you will be allowed to view them and ultimately cast a vote for the kitchen you think is most deserving of recognition. Another terrific consideration is that you will get to chance to see kitchens that are considered to be the most innovative, creative, and well executed, all collected in a single location. You can look through a gallery of images of this year’s award-winning kitchens … chances are extremely high that you will see more than a few design ideas worthy of adding to your design arsenal (or maybe that’s just me …)
Voting for the Designers’ Choice Award opens today – July 1, 2015, and is open throughout the month of July only and all industry professionals may cast a vote. The winner will be announced at the Best of the Best Winners’ Summit & Gala in September 2015.
Have fun looking at kitchens for the next two hours!
