It’s 5:00pm in Madrid right now as I write this and I have 2 hours until we meet in the lobby for some late evening fun and exploration. A small group of us went out to an Irish bar (the oddly named Penguin Row) and watched the Superbowl last night. The game started at 12:30am local time and we didn’t get back to the hotel until 4:30 in the morning … and I had to get up to see a continuing education presentation on properly specifying tile that started 4 hours later. I know, poor me, boo hoo.
I took the above picture at 4:30 in the morning when I returned from watching the Super Bowl game. This is the view from my hotel room – I put the camera on the table and took a prolonged exposure shot. Pretty sweet right?
I have been in Spain for 3 days and so far this trip has exceeded any expectations I might have had coming in. I have a few hours of free time so I wanted to share some of the images I have taken. I will put together something a little more comprehensive later since I really don’t have much time and the Internet service comes and goes.

The Marpy Bar is a famous bar – a favorite by bull fighters – and there were pictures of them everywhere. I found a picture of one bull fighter who looked like the love child between Justin Bieber and Ricky Martin – maybe you’ll see that another day. The entire group went here for a lot of tapas and cerveza.

Designed as part of the Expo Zaragoza International Expo in 2008, the Zaragoza Congress Center is a multi-functional space that will host conferences, exhibitions and performances. We walked through it and it was almost completely empty but the spaces were really remarkable. More on this building another day.
The timing of this picture is hilarious. We were getting our tour through the Congress Building and I was taking some pictures of the group. The two women on the right were part of the group leading the tour and both couldn’t have been lovelier – not that you would know that from this picture. Am I getting the stink-eye or what!? “Oh no you di’in’t just take my picture” (but in Spanish).

I will try and go through the Zaha Hadid pedestrian bridge before we leave tomorrow morning. During this trip, I only had time to run into the first part and take this quick picture. The outside view of the bridge doesn’t really prepare you for the space within so I really hope I can get over there early tomorrow morning.

I took this picture at one of the special conference rooms within the Zaragoza Congress Center – which was an interesting building. There isn’t anything of particular interest here other than I like this photo.
Tomorrow we leave for Teruel, a small town of approximately 30,000 to look at Mudejar art and the World Heritage city. Yeah, I don’t know what those are either but I’ll find out shortly.
