I am sitting on a panel at the upcoming Texas Society of Architects convention – seminar #101046 from 10:00 to 11:30 Saturday, October 16th. The topic is “The Purpose of Social Media for Architects”. Sounds great right? I’m not really sure what it means to be honest with you. As long as I get to stand in front of a room full of people and talk about myself – I’m in.
One of the members on the panel with me is Laura Davis – she’s a big fan of Meetup.com and organizes (among other things) architectural networking events for architects and other design related folks. I haven’t ever meet her before but she is part of a group that met last night for an on-going event hosted by the Dallas AIA Associates Committee. The event is held every first Tuesday and they call it “Architecture on Tap”….clever right? (because there’s beer and we talk about architecture) At any rate, I told you all of that simply as a way of introducing the graphics that are generated by the associates group to promote the event – I think they are great.

They are designed by associate architect Scott Taylor and so far there have been three developed. You can see the evolution of what is going on here and if I’m really being honest….Ssssshhhh…I’m really only going because I like the graphics so much.
If you like them too – let me know, I’m sure Scott would appreciate some awesomeness. If you want to reach Scott directly (you know, so he can design your wedding invitations) you can email him at – dst101@hotmail.com
Finally, I met about 10 people last night that were readers of this blog – it was cool and a little surreal. I’m just sitting here in my living room writing this stupid blog trying to occasionally be funny (architects can tend to take themselves too seriously). Despite communicating with people through email, I don’t meet many readers, so putting a real face to the people you interact with just makes doing this more rewarding.
